I have an old DTV DSR6000 that is starting to act up, rebooting more and more. It obviously has been a great run, 200+ hours recording time, many years of flawless recording. But its time to move on I think. I want to know what I can get with Directv now new or used to keep the Tivo software. I have heard many poor things about Directv's software. My other DVR is an R10. Older but Tivo there too. Should I look for that? Should I switch to Dish network? I have had DTV for ~10 years now. Thanks for any help!

It depends on how much money you want to spend. For my first step I'd run the drive manufacturer's diagnostics on your current drive(s) just to make sure your problem isn't caused by a failing drive.
For a replacement, I'd suggest any Series 2 DirecTiVo. The replacement for your DSR6000 is the DSR704, but the differences between the Philips and the Hughes or Samsung are cosmetic. All are readily hackable.
As an alternative, you could consider moving into the modern era and getting a HR21-100 and a new HDTV to go with it. :)
