Streaming outside LAN - is it possible?

Posted on Newbie subforum also as I am unashamedly a newbie.
Using a series 1 Tivo with tivowebplus and ms_ftp I can watch a stream of .asx or .tivo files within my LAN but that doesn't seem to work if I try to stream oer the internet.

Is it not supposed to?
Is it a ports problem?
Any pointers as to where to find a solution?

You need too big a pipe for it to work over the 'net. I find the best option is Slingbox. For a $100 or so you get all you want, anywhere you want it.

I second what he said. I configured my S1 Tivo to "stream" outside the network and even at low resolutions it was essentially unusable. I even used it with an uncapped cable modem which gives around 2500 mbps upstream and it was terrible.

The Slingbox classic I have connected to it now has worked perfectly for years.
