I have been living in Africa for 2 and a half years. During this time, I put my trusty old SAT-T60 in storage. I returned to the states this past month and decided to dust it off and plug it in. Everything works great except the noise is unbearable. I want to replace my 80GB and 40GB drives with a single, quiet drive. Any suggestions as to the best replacement drive? I have not been reading on the forum for some time, is there a maximum size drive I can use? Can I just use hinsdale to convert the 2 drives to a single drive?
Thanks in advance.

Without an LBA48 aware kernel you're limited to a maximum capacity of 137GB. There are custom kernels available for the S1 DTivos that will allow you to use larger drives but you'll want to disable any software updates or it could hose the drive if it gets updated. I believe the DVRUpgrade boot CD may contain an LBA48 kernel for the S1 units but I'm not sure. You might want to check out their website or support forums for details.
And yes, you can use Hinsdale to combine the two drives into one.
