I had to update my S2 as it quit downloading guide data. It currently has 9.3.2-01-2-140 which is the Fall 2008 update. Where do I start. I know I need to change the kernel but am at a total loss on where to begin and what utilities to download.

I got a hold of the steps. I guess I'm trying to find a killhdinitd that will work with the kernel on 9.3.2. The last version I have seen is 0.9.3, is there a newer version?

Hope the kernel posted here (http://www.dealdatabase.com/forum/showthread.php?p=270112#post270112) is still hosted; keep a copy. ;)

I've been using killhdinitrd with every upgrade since I hacked my S2 with OS 7.2 on it. I sure wish I had of known it wouldn't work...

I've been using killhdinitrd with every upgrade since I hacked my S2 with OS 7.2 on it. I sure wish I had of known it wouldn't work...You missed the point. The OP was looking for a version of killhdinitrd to apply to a stock 9.3.2 kernel; that ain't gonna work. The 7.2.2-othk1 (among others) has always worked on Series 2. Those specific kernels are compatible with past and current software versions. You're using a killhdinitrd compatible kernel; you're not using the killhdinitrd utility on each and every release kernel.

I want to get anything I can to work with that version. So what kernel can I replace the 9.3.2 kernel with?

I want to get anything I can to work with that version. So what kernel can I replace the 9.3.2 kernel with? It's the 7.2.2-oth.K1 kernel (http://www.dealdatabase.com/forum/showthread.php?p=270112#post270112) I linked to above. Get that kernel, run the 0.9.3 version of killhdinitrd (http://www.dealdatabase.com/forum/showthread.php?t=36692) on it. That will neuter the kernel for you. Then add your hacks via rc.sysinit.author, add tivotools (busybox) binaries, fix iptables, etc. and you are good to go! You can check the link in my sig if you want to see how I did it! The one thing to be real careful about is USB network (i.e., see backport) drivers.

I know Iknow. Use the search button.

Turned out some advice I read about the netfilter-enable script was bad. I put the old one back and got past that point. So back in business from that error

So for the search engine, Put netfilter back to original if you did the exit 0 thing.

I was able to see my DirecTivo S4040R with 7.2.2 and now 9.3.2 only can see my Windows side server. Is there something more I need to do to get it to see the other tivo?

Take a look at the '9.x is here' threads in the Series 2 support section. I don't have SA TiVos, but I seem to remember there were changes in the MRV protocols with 9.x.
