View Full Version : Enhanced NOCSO patch?

Hi

We talked about this hidden in other topics.

I am putting it on the table. Is there a way to modify the noCSO patch to allowed older encrypted shows to still transfer?

I would think we are brute force blocking all encryption, which is wht the patch, once put in, kills any ENCRYPTED shows on the tivo from transferring.

Since me, and alot of others, have hundreds of encrypted shows and cannot use TTG/MRV because of Tivo's non-error checking on ethernet transient failures (see other posts about it), it would be cool even if we could patch in some quick subroutine or patch in some other area of the code.

Any ideas? I am not a disassembler programmer, so wouldn't even know where to look to fix this, since there is no code to look at.

Thanks!

i doubt you'll find any takers

it would be simpler and less time consuming to extract and reinsert the shows in the fashion tivo4mevo mentioned

also, i doubt that anyone capable of devising the patch has alot of encrypted shows to be worried about

As I said, I would have no problem using tivo desktop to extract them, but it fails for me as I said most times.

I even tried a crossover cable, but on any ethernet transient error, a tivo desktop xfer fails, no retry.

If you haven't done so already, it's probably worth attempting to download directly from tivo's https interface using a browser. Though this still invokes TTG on the tivo, it sidesteps TiVoDesktop, thus eliminating it as the possible culprit in your aborted downloads.

I use http://tivoplaylist.dyndns.org/ and http://tivodecode.sourceforge.net/ to get encrypted shows off of my TiVoHD and unencrypt them.

I use http://pytivo.sourceforge.net/ to put unencrypted shows (mpg and mp4) on my TiVoHD. Properly built MP4 files can give very good quality playback with a much smaller cost of space on the TiVoHD.

None of this requires any hacking on the TiVoHD... although I have mine hacked to kill the CCI Byte that Time Warner seems to think it should put on EVERY FREAKING SHOW that goes thru a cablecard. I also have TivoWebPlus installed.

Cool. Just so all know. There are *2* types of encryption on the Tivo. RID encryption, which is the data stored on the Tivo harddisk and the DMA encryption the Tivo changes it into when it uses TTG.

TivoDecode can unencrypt the DMA encryption.

I have tried to use MFS_FTP to grab directly from the Tivo HDisk, and got RID encrypted shows that cannot be decoded by TivoDecode.

I tried the Web interface and the transfers seem to work better, but still can fail.

I don't see how the TivoPlaylist.dyndns.org can work any better, but I'll try tonight.

Don't know if you guys saw this, but someone (?) posted here (http://www.dealdatabase.com/forum/showthread.php?p=305928#post305928) what appears to be a surgical patch to meet this need. It appears untested and the submitter is new; I suppose it could be a DMCA paranoid veteran flying under the radar, a long-time lurker or perhaps even Tridge himself (ha!) who knows...

huh?

"RID" is related to later generation Directv hardware, not some type of recording encryption. link (http://dealdatabase.com/forum/showpost.php?p=207925&postcount=28)

TTG uses qualcomm encryption

Ooops

I didn't mean RID, I meant just hw encryption
