I would like to find a livecd that has the GNU ddrescue built in. This tool performs the same functions as dd_rhelp+dd_rescue (notice the underscore) except that its integrated into a single binary.

Please pagedown once and read the "important note" section of this page http://www.kalysto.org/utilities/dd_rhelp/index.en.html

Here is the homepage of gnu ddrescue http://www.gnu.org/software/ddrescue/ddrescue.html as you can see enabling the log file causes it to perform the same actions as the old dd_rhelp script.

I'm tired of trying to use the POS mfslive cd. There are so many things that are broken and I see no update coming. I have had to babysit the recovery of a drive because dd_rhelp doesnt work and ddrescue on its own does something to the misconfigured OS causing it to barf on the sata interface after too many timeouts.

Thanks :)

In case anyone cares this USB stick installer for many flavors of linux is AWESOME http://www.pendrivelinux.com/universal-usb-installer-easy-as-1-2-3/

I used it to install Ubuntu and SystemRescueCD from here http://www.sysresccd.org/Main_Page which included gnu ddrescue :D
