View Full Version : Is it possible to backout tivoapp hacks?

I've made 2 mistakes: I used the "nopromos" hack on both my TivoHDs but I didn't backup tivoapp on one of them. I don't know what I was thinking; I backed up my other TivoHD's tivoapp (so I repatched that one just fine). Can I copy tivoapp from one TivoHD to another? If not, is there a way to backout of the nopromos hack on the TivoHD whose tivoapp I didn't backup? Failing all that, can I make the Tivo d/l 11.0j from Tivo without losing my programs? tia

If both tivo's are running the same software version (e.g. 11.0j-01-2), you can safely copy tivoapp from one to the other.

Reversing patches is easy, if you apply patches via tvapppatch.tcl (http://dealdatabase.com/forum/showthread.php?t=60304). You can reverse a patch by exchanging the "old" and "new" values for the patch. For example, grab the patches here (http://www.dealdatabase.com/forum/showthread.php?p=308781), find the no-proms patch:
0x00867e9c "0d2939a5 00000000" and exchange the "old" and "new" values:
0x00867e9c "00000000 0d2939a5

Hi All, Software version 11.3b4 has just been released in Australia however those of us with modded TiVo's are noticing some odd behaviour. In particular those of us who dont want the update applied yet. We have all the software update blocks in place 1) Commented out the reboot line in /tvbin/installSw.itcl 2) upgradesoftware=false on the bootpage However every night go ahead...

Hey alixolson we found the issue here
http://www.dealdatabase.com/forum/showthread.php?t=64012

Not sure if it will help us in our current situation with the reboots (As we are already in 'Pending Restart' state) but it will the next time we get an update. One person has added this patch to 11.3b3 but I have not heard if it has stopped their reboot issue.

Edit: This has now been confirmed to work perfectly when patching a 11.3b3 system and stops the reboot at 2am.
