info on useing bash

ok,i've come along way pretty fast,i backed up dsr6000 with 40 gig hdd,loaded 25xtreme,ran fixsub through bash.every thing works great.but i cant record ppv from guide for future showing.i have to wait till it gets ready to start tune to chanel hit record,then all is well.from what i read i guess i have to run a script through bash to remove ppv flags.this is where i'm stuck.i've read alot about what to do,but not where to get info on the scripts.also i'm useing a kodak digital camera cable to run bash. i was told to send files to tivo i need a null modem with it.what the hell is a null modem?i'm not a programer and i'm not that well versed in linux.i guess what i really need is a ready made script to remove ppv flags,and a how to do to apply it :) thanks for any and all help guys,this site rocks!!
p.s. is there a comand when booted from 25xtreme disk to get help files up?thanks again

If you have a bash prompt you not need a null modem adpter.
As far as know there isn't a script to remove the PPV flag as of yet.

T_RJ searched record ppv and found a thread that says it works for stand alone units to remove all ppv flags on all chanels that have one. was gonna throw a link on here but cant get it to go :(
p.s. a phillips dsr6000 is a stand alone correct?
