Well, I have a T-60. I applied extreme 2.5. I reset the audio output to the optical. Yes, it still works just fine for me.
I am just saying the option is turned on or off with the remote.
There are no options regarding this while loading the xtreme image.
Have you actually used the remote and checked if the Dolby digital is enabled?
If you have and you still have problems I would try a different cable.
I know you said it worked before. But there have been many posts regarding digital cable quality.
I hope I lightened up enough. I didn't mean to sound harsh.
Well maybe I did a little.

how did you switch audio output to the optical. was this a setting you changed in the reciever ......if so then i have other prolbems ....i have changed settings in reciever several times and thats not the prolbem thx for responding.........
This is starting to sound like a sh*ty cable.
Just to confirm
hit the TiVo button
scroll down to "Mesages and Setup" hit select
scroll down to "My preferences" hit select
scroll down to "Audio options" hit select
should be at "Dolby DigitaL" hit select
scroll down to "Yes, output and record in Dolby Digital" hit select
Go watch TiVo

As I read through the thread, I couldn't tell if you actually tried enabling it through the preferences menu or not. Your first post suggested that you had not found the menu to enable it. T_RJ and I were pointing you to the menu where you turn it on. Apparently you have indeed tried this and still no joy...
That said, T_RJ suggests trying a different optical cable.
It's also been said around the various forums that some DTivos have a problem with Yamaha receivers. I thought this was isolated to the Sony flavor of DTivo - and it required a free service fix in the shop. Though I can't see why Sony hardware would behave different from the identical Philips or Hughes - though there are subtle differences in the software.

Don't give up yet... Go to the *massive* Tivo forum at AVSForum.
Run a search on "optical output" or something like that. Check the Tivo Undergroud as well as the DirecTV with Tivo forums...

Let us know if it is software related.
We'll be here waiting.

Just wondering if you got this working, I am having the same problem. I just bought a new receiver and switched to the optical cable and there is no red light coming out of the T60. I've tried changing the setting, rebooting it, nothing works. I'm starting to think it is a hardware problem. I'll keep searching. Thanks.

I had the same problem, but it just quit one day.
I reinstaled xtreme but that didnt fix it so
i finaly removed the LED and found that it
had burnt out (scorch mark between 2 of the 3 pins).
i havent found a replacement yet, but i havent been
looking too hard ether :-)
