How in the heck do you hack the tivo for a life time subcription? I know its included in the 25 extreme but no info on how to use it.
I have read every single dam post on the subject on the tivo community board and have come up empty handed.
Are these hacking boards or not?
I have installed the 25xtreme on my new phillips 6000 tivo and would like to be able to use the darn thing but can't find any info anywhere!
You can find an unlimited supply of info on the net to hack the dtv, but not shit on this....why. Can any one help out?
Thanks

1. you need to make a serial cable.
I followed directions to make my serial cable from these guys:
Credits goes to: splitkane, Hoochster, dsswhat
Go to RadioShack and buy this items:
D-subminiature connector hood Cat. No. 276-1539D
D-Subminiature connector 9 position Female Cat. No. 276-1538C
6 Ft. 1/8" stereo extension audio cable Cat. No. 42-2387A
Solder the following:
Tip Red wire -> pin2
middle black wire -> pin3
outer ring silver wire -> pin5
That's it. Now you have your own cable for under $5 bucks.
Hook up to com 1 and use hyperterminal (no flow control)
2. get a bash prompt
3. touch /etc/SubTest (case sensitive)
Hope it helps

do the words 'don't bite the hand that feeds you' mean anything?
there are several threads on this...
search on SubTest

Sorry guys I probley lashed out before looking around much.( On this board anyway). The others suck. Thanks for the help!
I have made the serial cable and have a bash promt that looks like this
bash-2.02#
After reading further and doing some searches I found the info I was looking for. " touch/etc/subtest" but when I use it all I get is "no such directory" promt.
My question is after installing 25xtreme and doing the updates in the tivo to 2.5, is there any way to see if the xtreme script was sucsussful?
Is my touch research not complete. Do I need to do something else?
Thanks

As marksmanaz said "case sentive". And watch the spaces.

Look in a couple of posts above yours, it's case sensitive as you found out.
After that force the call. It works.
