View Full Version : Sony T-60- "Welcome, powering up"
I have programmed my hard drive with 25extreme. I hooked up my receiver and I got a "Welcome, Powering up" message. It has not gone away. I have waited several hours and reloaded the software too. Any suggestions????
check the jumper setting onyour drive Should be master
I would make sure.
The message you are getting is from the prom.
I don't believe your drive is being recognized.
Could be the cables.
More likely the jumper.

I am having the same problem my unit says powering up and will not continue. I have a quantum 40 GB HD I have my jumbper on master and can not fim\nd the torbo jumper.....can anyone help???
It is not a jumper it is a software option.
search turbo
I don't think this is the problem.
You may have a bad image of xtreme or more likely you do not have it jumpered correctly.
I know you say it is jumpered corectly but the diagram on the drive is a little confusing.
here is a link to Maxtor/Quantom regarding the TiVo drives

I get this from time-to-time on my test T60 box. I unplug the power, wait for drive to spin down, and repower - and it loads.
Also make sure all cables are seated. Unplug and replug them - flat flex cables too.
Have also heard of a guy whose drive power contacts were opening up inside the connector (from lots of drive swapping) - look and see if they've started to spread - a common problem with these cheap-cheap-cheap-cheap PC power cables. A needle-nose should fix them.
I got it to work. Thanks for all your help everyone!!

Can you tell me what you did to get this to work…I’m still having the same problems. I get powering up then the screen goes blank with static then powering up.
I have a 40 GB Quantum drive . Jumpered master. I have experience building computers and am confident of it’s master jumper status.
I upgraded it with a 25xtreme t60 image CD for a 40 GB hard drive while jumpered slave on the secondary IDE
All cable appear to be secure. I’m at my wits end….
Can you please help….
try removing all jumpers from the drive and rebooting the system. If that doesn't work, let me know.

I had something similar and solved it by taking the drive out and zero'ed the initrd. It happened after I ran tivoMAD (or what ever the expansion program is called! :) ). Worked like a charm after that. So, give that a try.

I tried installing a 60gb maxtor in mine with no luck. Then i finally broke down and went to do xtreme on my 40gb and it worked first time.
With the 60 in, i got the same results you are getting now.
Never did find out what's wrong, but are you able to hack it with just your original drive in? Start simple and work up to harder.

I bought it on DBay "big mistake"!! It had the 40gb drive in there. I think I got ripped off buy some one who botched the upgrade. I just do not know what to do to fix it or if Sony will even return it to factory status. I guess I'm stuck going out and buying another one.
P.S. don't ever buy anything on Dbay, they do not protect you like eBay!!!!!!!! It is a dumping ground for things that can’t be sold on eBay...
Be careful !!!!!!!!!!
I'm having the same EXACT problem here.
I bought a brand new factory sealed 40GB maxtor from Best Buy and moved the orig 30GB over to the B with no luck. I even tried just using the new drive by itself...no luck.
Confident about the jumper settings and even tried a different cable...no luck.
Power seems to be spinning the drives in the Tivo, even get hd reading motion sounds for about the first minute. Then just the quiet hmmm of a spinning drive.
I will download a different iso image tonight and try that but it appeard to install successfully.
Question for the group...Do you need to run tivoMad if my new a drive is at 40GB (same as t60xtreme image)? If so, I tried answering the t60xtreme script question with a 'Y' and it would not run. I'm assuming you don't need to run it since it is the same size and the backup image. (I'm reaching here)
Otherwise...I'm stumpped...
I can understand your fustration.
Anyone?...Anyone?...Bueller?...
