Check internal temp

How does one check internal temp on one of these bad boys? I stuck my tongue on the HD and it felt hot, but that's not very accurate:)

Since my unit is in an enclosed oak cabinet with glass doors, it was running pretty hot (62-65C). Even though this is well within the limits of what the TiVo considers operating temperature, it always made me nervous...VERY warm to the touch.

I have followed with interest the threads about fan replacement/mods...etc. Before I went that extreme, I thought I'd just add a ventilation fan to the cabinet itself. I found an old 120volt fan I had pulled out of a computer years ago, cut a hole in the back near the TiVo and wired it up.

Boom! Temp is now a constant 52C! Now it's only barely warm on the end farthest from the TiVo fan ('B' drive) and completely cool over the power supply & 'A' drive!

My advice? If it's running hot...make sure the unit has a way to dissapate that heat!
