Just wanted to ask a question about the place where you could advise me to get the best deal on a direcTIVO. I do not care about the brand; Philips, Hughes, and Sony are okay. I have looked at several sites and all have this small print that says required activation in 45 days and subscription for new users is required. I am already a DSS owner and wish to use the TIVO to do some testing and NOT add service to it. Please send me a site by email if you have a site that offers a great deal for DirecTIVO without activation or subscription

Thanks,
Magik

P.S. I am new to the site and read the regulations so I think this falls within the allowable guidelines. If not please delete

I have seen several items on eBay. If you search for GXCEBOT I saw 3 or 4 different sellers last week selling for $89.00 to current, previous dish subscribers. There was 1 just now selling to anyone for $350 new in the box.

Please don't put me with the AOL Group just because a few people request some information by using "me too".

It is very possible that the original person providing the information is not currently visiting this site. And possibly one of the earlier posters may have this information and could also provide it. Look at the dates of the posts (Jan, Feb, Mar).

Granted that this information may no longer be valid but ya never know and could be very helpful to someone.

You you do not activate the dealer does not get paid for the unit so you are going to have to pay full price to get one without activation. $300 or $400

I had to chuckle when I saw that all of the prior posts were made back in '02. The irony is that the post referred to the now defunct series 1 DTivo. BTW, satmaster, have you checked out ebay lately? It's flooded with DTivos being sold with "no commitment."
