Poll: DTivo upgrades : How much time / How many gigs?

I upgraded my Phillips DSR6000 from a 30 and a 15 gig drive (2 drives / 25 hours reported in System Information = ~1.8GB per hour) to a 30 and a 160 gig (153 hours reported in System Information = 1.2GB/hr)

larger capacity has made my DTivo more efficient?


No!

if I divide 30 by 25 I get 1.2.. if I divide 190 by 153 I get 1.2...

this makes me believe that the factory 15 gb drive that was originally in there as my Tivo B drive was not even being used!!!

is this possible? this was a new, factory-sealed unit when I first used it!

oh and about the poll... anyone else tried Maxtor 160gb drives? is it possible to use 2 and get 267 hours of recording time?


ps.. I had read somewhere that the IDE limit was like 120 or 140gb... Im using a 160gb and Im pretty damn sure Im getting full use of it.. is there anyway I can tell for sure that the drive is registering at a full 160gb?

I beleive your only using 137 gig of your 160 drive. But still smokin should be about 123 hrs according to the dtivo system information sceen

Was just wondering if you could lead me to the area that shows how to add a second drive and format it to work in TIVO.
