Do you really have a lifetime sub or did you just apply the subtest? I'm no expert, but it is my understanding that even if you do have a valid lifetime sub w/25xtreme you are never supposed to plug in the phone line.

i had a feeling it wasn't to be ,, no i don't have a lifetime sub but i WAS considering getting one ,, oh well i guess i'll just have to make do with the way it is , and that ain't bad! unless , of course , someone knows a better way?

If it makes you feel any better I have had a Lifetime sub SA for a long time and the novelty of the Showcases and Tivolution Magazine wore off after the first week.
I'm sure you will find plenty of things that will replace what you might be missing. :D
If you un SubTest your TiVo ( delete the SubTest file ) and don't run any of the locals scripts and don't use any illegitimate methods to recieve or enhance your DTV subscription.
You should be fine.
You need to remember that the TiVo logs every remote control keystroke and programs watched.
When it calls home to update the Show/Mag and validate your subscription it also uploads this info to TiVo.

Speaking from personal experience, you can sub to tivo, plug in the phone line, and reboot. You may lose some of your hacks but you will still have the benefit of a 2 drive directivo with lots of recording time. The choice is yours.

i will take this info and mull it over , (w/ a certain leaning in the direction of LoneRider1999's considerations!)
thanks again
Looks like we are able to enable the show/mag without the phone home.
Personally I can't stand the audacity of TiVo monitoring how I use my remote and what I choose to watch.

Personally, I'm not interested in the show/mag. I suspect many using fixxup are happy to save the $10/month. I just wanted to make sure that twistie and interested lurkers understand that they have a choice and can still sub to tivo and benefit from hacks like tivomad and blesstivo as available in 2.5xtreme.
I think we are speaking the same language!
