I have 2 Combo TIVO units on my HOME LAN..

What is the easiest way to copy a show that is on one TIVO to have it viewable on the other TIVO via the NOW PLAYING Screen?

Is such a thing possible??

While software exists that lets you get programs off of a SA TiVo, I don't know of any that lets you put a program on a TiVo via the LAN connection.

Take a look at the work that's being done on Playitsam. Pay particular attention to the notion of a "tystream server"

Might not be exactly what you're after (there's still a PC involved) but it could be close enough.

A friend and I have been discussing how 2 lan based dtivo's could operate together. In theory, the datastream is not that much bandwidth. All the dtivo does to record is record the datastream, and store it on disk. Then, on replay, it just decodes.

Could it be rigged, so that a show transfer could take place....
over tivonet, it should be possible....

also, it could be done, that a show could be streamed, (not transfered....so that disk space is not wasted in duplicating a show that is already on the first tivo)

anyone?

of course it CAN be done, but no one's done it yet.. get started, and when you know enough to ask sensible questions (or even insensible ones) ask, and someone will help you..
