demo mode

what is the deal with this demo mode? i dont mind paying tivo the 10 a month, but how come when i put in an alternate access card, it goes into this demo mode every 15 min..
i have to assume the cam id is stored on the hard drive and transmitted everytime the tivo phones home?

This is a known pitou problem and there is a fix. We don't really talk about that stuff here.
