if i already recieve my regular locals in the 0-99 range ,thanks to guide byte on card,(and lets say that's the N.Y. area), and what i'm after is to restore access to as many nearby locals , BO , DC , i think i even used to get PA ,,as possible ,, THE QUESTION is do i need to load "channels.dat" files for every one of those local markets? or is there a GENERAL "channel.dat " file INCLUDED w/mvch134 that you can edit to get the ones you want?

There is a complete channels.dat with 1.34
Copy it and edit it down to ONLY the 'nearby' locals (in your case BO DC...). Do not add the locals you are getting in the 2-99 range. This will help keep the size (and work) to a minimum.
Change the 'nearby' to a 2 (last number on each line).
That is all there is to it.
