Other OS's on the XBox

Other OS's on the XBox, preferably with the ability to go back.

1) gain control of the system
a) write an XBox game that is really a basic bios or a winNT/linux bootstrap
b) write a bios for the xbox, and come up with some way of seitching between xbox bios and other.
a) if the xbox bios is socket, something similar to a bios saviour with an addressable latch would be ideal.
b) is the bios is not socketed, a hardware mod is needed, but to effectively do the same thing.
2) come up with drivers.. chances are most of the needed drivers already exist

3) uh.. I really thought there would be more to this post, but there's not.

It would be nice, but takes time for people to find those Microsoft bugs :). Plus, those bug finders are probably off playing Halo or something.

Firstly, the BIOS is not socketed. It's soldered onto the board. With skill you can remove it and put it in a socket.

a socketed bios is too much effort.. :D.. so what you do is sandwich 2 sockets back to back, cut the chip enable, and tie it to a switch so you can toggle between Computer and xbox modes...

Heh, that's even more effort! You gotta solder 40-odd wires to an SMD device for the other BIOS...
