I've recently gotten the DSR6000 updated with 2.5xtreme, and was able to get a bash prompt for the "touch". Touch went well, did the fake call, and got the lifetime sub. Now, I'm still plagued with the pesky "demo mode", and have tried editing the rc.sysinit file. I found the "/bin/bash </dev/ttys3 > ..." line, and added the following line after it - "/var/hack/fixdemo.tcl > /dev/null &". I then exited, as instructed, and re-booted TiVo (unplugged, then re-plugged). Now, I'm still plagued with the "demo mode", so I tried to re-access the TiVo. Now I cannot get a bash prompt - I get a rc.sysinit error.

How do I get a bash prompt back, and get rid of the demo mode? I saw in a post that this area of help wasn't available, per Surgeon. Why? Any help would be appreciated.

By the way, I'm using a serial adapter cable I got with my Philips Pronto to program the TiVo...Works perfectly!

I assume you transferred fixdemo to the hack directory, because it doesn't come with Xtreme. Did you make sure to chmod it to make it executable?

You'll have to pull the drive and mount the partition using your PC so you can edit the rc.sysinit file and fix the problems.
