I have tried almost everything to get my T60 working again. Here is my Dtivo info.

Sony T-60
Manufactured: Nov 2000
Software (prior to xtreme attempt): 2.5.1
2 drive system (30 +15)
Was a floor model at CC the dealer card was left inside and it was in DEMO mode.

Everything was working at first. Tivo service was activated, 2 tuners, free direct tv from dealercard. Then I let tivo call home a few times to get guide updates and it was no problem. But the last time I let it, tivo deactivated my service. I then opened up the machine, removed the drives and ran 25Xtreme on them(without backing up Grrr). I kept all the jumpers the same and everything looked like it worked fine. I installed the drives back into the Tivo and it was stuck at welcome powering up screen.

Since then I have tried a second copy of the xtreme software, a 2.01 image i found online, messed with all the possible jumper settings, zeroed out the drive and tried xtreme again, changed the floppy cable, used my computer powersupply to power the drives.... just about everything. I have tried all the different options during the install and nothing has worked. I did not edit any files on the drive, only ran the 25xtreme program.

I looked at the drive lights under the A drive when I power it up in the tivo. At first the light is on, then it flashes a little, then its out and never comes back on.

I dont know what else to try other then a new drive, but I dont understand why these ones wouldnt work considering I can mount all the right partitions on them, and pass a full system scan. I'm guessing It is either a PROM problem or damaged hardware. I did not break the warrenty sticker when I opened the drive.

What should I do next....?

I belive that the t60 uses the drives in cable select mode
are you sure that you have the drives pluged in to the same
spots on the cable that they origionaly were. other than that
i cant think of a reason why it wont boot.

even with the drives not connected you should get welcome powering up on screen.

getting stuck at welcome powering up almost always means that the drives are not connected right (bad cable etc) or are misconfigured. With those 2 options out of the way, the next most likely is that the extreme image did not take properly.

The final possibility, one which I have yet to see, is that the prom is somehow corrupt in a manner that initialises all hardware but does not load/verify the 2.0 kernel. (it IS possibly however)

If/when that becomes the case, you will need to boot with a valid 2.01 kernel, which has a signature, then use it's available hack to flash the prom to the one that doesn't check. (Extreme uses a 2.0 image that does not have a signature)

BubbaJ...

Exactly my supposition as well... Sounds like it got reflashed with the factory prom....

Will the Sony_SAT-T60_2.0.1-30meg.bak on AVS work? I have tried that one, but that was without zeroing the drive after my last xtreme attempt. I am going to try another HD today if I can.

Let me know how things turn out. I am in the same boat as you. I'll let you know if I have success as well. You can read my post "NOT so successful story"
