I'm trying to get a bash prompt via serial port and I get "no job control in this shell
bash-2.02#"
then it won't let me type anything.
I just finnished running 25xtreme and I did DirecTiVoMad. Should I not have used DirecTiVoMad? I have a single 40gb the same one that came with the unit.
Thanks for the help,
Paul

Check your cable. In situations like this, the cable is usually pinned incorrectly. I assume you made your own, correct ?
You should really check it out. There are many threads here that point in that direction.

p.s. Or it could be the lack of local echo (maybe) Try typing
sttty sane after you get that prompt.

same thing happened to me... Your serial cable is fine... Just turn flow control to off in the connection properties and restart hyperterminal (or the computer)
And it should work fine...

it still alows you to type, you just cant see it yet... at that prompt type "stty sane" then hit enter a few times.. if you dont want to do that everytime.. you can add that line to .bashrc file in the root dir( / ).. :D
