I want to upgrade a drive A to a 40 gig (Maxtor 5400)
I have a Philips SA 112
1. I backed up from the original with mfstool
2. I restored to the new drive (Maxtor) with mfstool.
3. I popped the hard-drive in the Tivo and booted and everything works fine.
4. I put the new drive in the computer and ran TivoMad (1 drive, less than 140 gigs, less than version 2, and not a quantum fireball)
5. After TivoMad finishes, I put back in the Tivo and I still get the original 14 hours

I have this three times now. What am I missing??
Did I do something wrong??

Thank you for reading/responding!

Try running Tivomad and expanding the drive before you put it in the Tivo.

I reread the instructions from Hinsdale and the only thing different I did was use TivoMad when drive A was primary slave (hdb) instead of secondary master (hdc). I changed that and the same result.

I tried restoring the drive and then running TivoMad. No change.

When the linux Kernel loads, I see hdc: 400038 megs (this is right). I also see hdc1-7 plus hdc13

Why will Tivo not see the full size of this harddrive??
