True...but we also had those features about 8 years ago on our hacked units. :D

I can't help with the offset but wanted to make sure you know that manual recording of XM channels works with TWP.
Maybe another forum isn't necessary (if it's similar to the S2s), but I cannot wait to void the warranty on my S3 after I receive it. :D

I've been looking for an updated code for 3.1.1c, but haven't had any luck thusfar. Is there some other way that one can display these showcase recordings or determine the FSIDs for extraction?
My HDVR2s are old school. All of them are running 3.1.1c-01-2-151 right now.
OK, upon further testing, I have different results:
(service number has been deleted for obvious reasons)

The T60 is definitely not reading the Service Number as I can see all zeros in Tivoweb/SysInfo. However, the problem is transient and the box seems to recover after awhile. The box rarely ever gets...
I've been noticing this problem on one of my T60s that are running 3.1 w/ a cachecard. The drive is relatively new, and the 51s come and go. I also frequently see a problem at boot and it stops at...
For a quiet/bedroom TiVo or just in general? The Vantec Thermoflows put out about 33 db(A), so I doubt they would be a good choice for a placid setting. The Pabst are very quiet, but they only push...
I'm a complete believer in the Vantec 60X25 Thermoflow fan. I had a T60 that was hovering around 59/60 after installing a Maxtor 6Y160P0 drive. Unacceptable. I tried the ADDA fans and even the...
doomee,
Have you tried running xupgrade -p on a factory T60 image? Have you also tried going the blankhdd->extreme25->xupgrade252/31 route?
I've done this quite a few times with "Cannot Boot...
Maybe this is less of a PITA than it's worth, but I've noticed that the Sleeper Knoppix CD will not boot on my boxes with PCI Promise ATA controllers. The boot just hangs while trying to access the...
Perhaps to fit more on a DVD?
True, but it's not so easy to see the screen when you're miles away. :)
I just wish I knew of a CLI hack to cleanly halt (all) recordings.
Checked to make for sure, but no, neither nfs or smbfs are running.
The only significant event that has happened recently is a reboot (initiated by me) during a recording. I've been wondering if...
I have a recent problem with a relatively stable 2.5->2.5.2 system that has been running since about September of 2002.
When I go in to edit the upcoming recordings, the system will reboot if I...
Does anyone know of a shell command to stop the current recording(s)?
Thanks
btw: reboots are a bit harsh :)
Is there some way of using Tivoweb to stop a live recording? Alternatively, is there something that can be done via shell w/ 2.5.2 to stop recording a show?
I pad some recordings and sometimes...
Am I the only freak out there that prefers to *not* have any logos at all on one of my HDVR2s? The only mods I have done to the box are bash, telnet, tivoftpd, and 31fixsub.

Forgot to ask... are you using any kind of software firewall on your ftp server?

if that doesn't work, you may want to archive your recordings and start from scratch.
I've done this in the past:
I believe that I created either a Season Pass for the "show" via the DTV music channel or a Wishlist, using the keywords for the "show."

FromMfs/ToMfs? We don't need no stinking FromMfs/ToMfs!!
The other day I lost BASH on one of my HDVR2s, so I assumed that my /var additions were whacked. I mounted the HDVR2’s var partition, but to my surprise, it was all still there. I checked bootpage...
Thanks again -- I'm back up and running.
Any chance that someone could attach the script for a 3.1.U5 unit?
Thanks
OK, damn. The checksum for the mfslib.tcl I have is b05a7a2c1861fdee27d7cad6da7c6e01. Either this is a different version or has been modified.
(Again, this is from a 2.5.2 SAT-T60 system.)
I have mfslib.tcl for a 2.5 unit, but I am not sure if the same version of mfslib.tcl is still used for 3.1.U5.
Would someone please be so kind as to post/PM a md5sum of /tvlib/tcl/tv/mfslib.tcl...
I made some modifications to it 8 months ago, and to be honest, I cannot remember what I did. Nothing is being copied over during a reboot.
This HDVR2 does not have a hacked PROM, either.

I haven't touched my HDVR2 in over 8 months (but it has been running and in use that whole time). Yes, it is strange. What's more strange is that my HDVR2 appears to be fine without it.
FWIW,...
I haven't popped into my HDVR2 in about 8 months, and I noticed something odd today.
My HDVR2 is missing mfslib.tcl (or at least it is not in /tvlib/tcl/tv/). Everything appears to working...
Doesn't mplayer w/ ty support do this also (at least to the console)?
Has anyone tested one of these kernels with 2.5.2 or 3.x yet?

Have you checked that unscrambling is still working properly?
Sorry, I meant powering off the system after running qunlock on the drive(s).
Did you power the computer off or did you just reboot?
I had this "problem" awhile back and it was because I was only rebooting the system.

Great information. I appreciate it.
I got my hands on two "as-is" units for next to nothing, so it's time to have some fun. :)
Excellent!
Just to confirm, is this the correct part for a T60?
I swear that I saw a link on here awhile back about a parts company that had a replacement power supply for a T60.
I also noticed that an online reseller is asking $100 for them!!! Well,...
Just curious -- has anyone w/ 2.5 lost their locals in the past week?
Also, is anyone running 2.5 and still receiving locals? Has anyone lost their locals and not upgraded to 2.5.2 to get them...
I'm not a mod, so it probably doesn't make much of a difference, but this kind of for-profit free advertising snuck into a message board makes me sick to my stomach.
You are correct. I'll give it a shot this weekend.
Thanks
Update:
As expected, an xupgrade to 2.5.2 on the T60 fixed all of the issues, but I am still looking for a smaller update/patch that would do the same. In other words, is there a 2.5.2 image that...
Something else to add:

Still not working. This seems quite odd. If anyone has noticed the same problem recently or in the past, let me know.
I may rebuild the unit just for grins, but there really wasn't too...
When one goes to the Search By Title menu on a HDVR2 with 3.1.U5-01-2-151, the menu just exits. (i.e., One is not able to Search by title w/ any further options).
Here are the logs:

OK. Bummer, then. (For now at least.)
I have a modified script that hits Recording/Active every 30 seconds, so perhaps I'll need to come up with an alternative solution.
I believe that if one runs a script over and over (specifically one that calls dbopen), a unit running 3.1 will eventually start spitting out:
No EventSwitcher active

Is this compilation of cron available anywhere?
I believe that 31cron-v2.zip is not for mips, but I could be wrong. (I do know that it does not work on a HDVR2.)
cwingert: awesome!!! :)
I was waiting for the current studio development to move along before requesting this, so this was quite a pleasant surprise!
Riley,
cool -- thanks for your input. i agree, it's a fugly technical implementation (if even possible), but like i mentioned earlier, i'm game for anything that "can't be done." some friends...

I like the on-demand streaming via FTP, but I am looking for something a bit more seamless, once implemented.
For example,(and yes, there are quite a few huge assumptions associated with doing...
I see. I'll try a few of my own ideas if nothing else surfaces, and like I said, this T60 is a spare that I don't mind "breaking."
As an alternative, I have considered mounting a nfs partition at...
not currently possible? i could have sworn I saw some posts about this awhile back, but i do not recall any successful/stable implementations.
Perhaps I've overlooked the past thread(s), but I am wondering if there are any kernel patches out there that one can use to break the 137 GB barrier with a 2.5/2.5.2 TiVo kernel.
Any references...
Although it may not exactly be "useful," I think this would be somewhat interesting. (ala ntop!)
Then again, I put a SNMP agent on my wife's laptop to monitor the vitals...
I'm not doubting the intentions of the update, but has anyone performed any quantitative analysis of transfer rates between the two module versions?
jonequest,
You're probably not going to like this answer, but I promise that if you actually do this it will get you up and running.
Read this entire thread from top to bottom.

I don't run Superzap's 252/310 upgrade, so I was wondering the frequency at which NOSDD is ran when this upgrade has been completed and NOSDD has been activated.

Although this is a slight tangent from the thread, perhaps it would be informative to list out all of the feature differences and script (in)compatibilities between 2.5 and 2.5.2.
Also, is there...

I have been wondering the same thing about those slices. Would it be possible to do a comparison of the svclog on a series 1 that is working with one that is not? (Unfortunately this...
MiTEs,
Thanks for the info -- definitely let us know your progress with the 2.5 unit. Also, unless something has very recently changed, I believe that Austin locals are on 101, and fwiw, (to ...
Just curious.
Are locals still unavailable in Knoxville and Austin for you folks?
I'm not in Austn anymore, but I remember losing my locals. I think I had to reset the program guide data and they eventually came back. I didn't use mvchannels or any script like that. I may have...
I believe you're right about that, although I am not anything close to a programmer.

Hey, what about the SAT/TV switch???

I have a very short attention span. ;)

Very cool. Thanks.
Will the following work for recombining a split tystream or is there a more effective shell script already available?

#cat stream3.ty >> stream2.ty
#cat stream2.ty...
Is this currently possible? :)

Bingo.
You're right -- totally forgot about the FAT32 limitations.
After using tytool5r2 to pull some streams from a T60 to a box running XP, I noticed that *all* of the shows had file sizes that were about 4.19 GB. The downloaded shows were football games with...

Yup, setpri really helps out. I ran this nosdd script every minute for about an hour and didn't notice any A/V issues.
Thanks again to everyone.
The final script I ended up using:

That definitely appears to be helping w/ the A/V skips.
Just wondering, however. Was a pool size of 102400 arbitrarily picked?
Thanks again guys -- I may be able to run this a lot more often...
So far, this modification appears to be working, and although there is a very, very slight hiccup in audio, it seems to be much better.

OK, I've narrowed it down to "set db [dbopen]"
This makes sense, but now I'm at a loss to debug/improve this process.
