stupid norton /symantec started flagging in the last few days the pytivo installer exe as a virus. It is getting flagged as a generic trojan.adh which is not a specific virus but some kinda heuristic...

i have no problems with this approach.. all my shows are from direct tivos .tmf format and i am going to my series 3 tivo hd.. i have done at least 20 of these conversions so far and non have audio...

i also recommend this approach this is what i do
I have them saved in .tmf format on various hard disks and when wife requests one of the old shows. I find it and convert via tytompg
and copy file...

that patch expects a certain patch level b4 applying it.. so you need to install correct version first.. otherwise i can just send you my complete directory structure..

don't remember where i got it.. but did some testing and put two files from one of my boxes that work with .ts to one that doesnt and i got it working.

basically there is a change to mfs_ftp.tcl...

i extract directly to .ts (there is a version of mfs_ftp that has a patch that does this)
once on the pc. (or use s3tots to convert the .tmf to .ts)
you can read the .ts with either tsmuxer or...

here are my notes for doing upgrade inline.. not i do everything manually so if anything fails (no script) i can re-act

1. backup /var and tvbin and bin etc.. in case you need to via ftp to a pc...

to answer my own question tsmuxer (not ts remux) seems to work ok and fairly fast about 5 minutes a disk , and can output blu ray file format.. which can be burned with nero udf 2.5.. the audio plays...

none of my 3 hacked hd tivos have gotten it.. maybe they pulled the update

interesting i dont bother nuking the kernel .. i just keep a copy of the neutered kernel an dd it back to partition 3 and 6 after a upgrade.. it seems easier..
