I use XToolBox on the XBox & mfs_ftp on the TiVo. Connect on port 3105 and voila. Mfs_ftp emulates an ftp server, so in theory any ftp client should be able to connect, right? However, as Yogi...
... or you could just refresh the static field upon return from the directory navigation dialog :)
But a timer would keep it refreshing during xfer/creation operations, indeed.
Mfs_ftp xferred recordings (TiVo->TiVo, TiVo->PC->TiVo) retain CC. Archive 'em raw & you can inject to TiVo.
Have not seen a DVD/TV combination that plays CC from TyTool DVD's (SomeoneelsesMMV).
Cool, thanks. I can live with:

Just needed the leading slash.
How-To cut a hole in your box to connect a Cat-5 cable to a Turbonet card.
Did you set your bootparam to include runideturbo=false? My speeds improved to 1.2MB after doing that.

If by throwing $$$ at the thing gives me 2.3mb instead of 1.2mb, it would be worth it to me :) So you are getting a 1 hour show (best) off of the tivo in about 17 minutes? That is impressive. I've...
I've found slightly higher speeds consistently with mfs_ftp/turbonet
tserver7 ~ 1.20 mb/s
mfs_ftp ~ 1.40 mb/s
Average after 5 minutes. Ty extractions.
Thank you Josh for developing what is, in a word, thebesthackyetforthetivo :) Even if I were to go out & get one of those fancy new TiVos with the burner in it, would I be able to edit commercials...
Search google = dvdpatcher
I assume you have never used a TiVo.
The PVR that comes with Dish is dog-ass lame!
and no, you can't use it.
A codec would be cool.
Sorry I can't offer a response to your query. I haven't been using vsplit (yet... 3ms? That's it?)
<IMHO>
A true audiophile/videosavant could notice a 15ms offset (<1/2 a frame @ 29.97fps),...

TiVoApp v2.2 creates a perfectly synced & working (almost) mpg in Windows in one step. Not sure you want to take such a backward step though... Giving up Linux for Windows just for ease of...
... or something else.
Sir Roger has a procedure that works fairly well. It's a good primer for all the steps involved. Get's your feet wet. You'll end up doing things a little different once...

Are you using a TiVoNet -or- TurboNet? If TiVoNet, what kind of card? I had a whole bunch of problems before replacing the 'very' old ISA card with a newer one. A friend had a similar problem too...
If you search the AVSForums for 3.0 software, you'll see that you will be able to do 2 out of the 4 things you want to do (when you get upgraded... should be soon). You'll need a usb2ethernet...
I was getting slow-downs during extraction on one of my HDR312's -> XP.
Grabbed "nicepri" from tivo.samba.org & recompiled TiVoApp to use it during extraction...

Leander-
I have been extremely successful in grabbing SVCDz from two modified TiVos for about 5 months now. It initially took over a month to come up with a procedure that works all the time. ...
I heard this works. I'm not a 'linux guy', so other than the concept described below I have no steps on how to implement.
You need to backup/restore your TiVo image to a larger HD, and create an...
FYI-
The new TivoWeb 1.9.3 allows for editing the resources in 2.5.1. I have adjusted the bitrates as laid out for a basic quality stream & indeed it does video bitrate compliant SVCD. Just...
Hey Gary-
Great to hear that you read this stuff, and a big THANK YOU for your effort in helping to make TiVo archiving an easier task. I have been able to use your newest release (and compile...
