FWIW: I decided to purchase a HR10-250 off of Ebay.
<Sigh> Guess I should head off the the noob section and start reading.
I'm in the exact same predicament, as I picked up a HDTV yesterday.
If for no other reason than this community, I would prefer to stay with TiVo and DTV, which means the HR10-250, but I am trying...

You don't want to use EtiVo, but what about the standalone Windows Media Encoder "wmenc.exe" application? There are some samples in the WME SDK, including a pre-built batch encoding application...
:o R.I.F. NOscramble vs UNscramble
I'm using noscramble = "insmod it and then you are good for anything in the future"
Ditto:
I've been using the same noscramble_mbm.o forever and have had no problems with my S1 Dtivo (SAT-T60) and 3.5-01-1-011.
Hypothetical figures:
If a 1 hour show is 1 GigaByte (It obviously varies), that's approximately 2,300 kilobits per second. (If my math is correct)
2300 Kbps will NEVER stream over a 384 Kbps...
Arrived home to a rebooting T60 (TmkAssertionFailure[149]: error) and a non-existent DD site. <Time to panic>
Found this thread in Google's cache, but I couldn't download the actual Clear &...
LOL, I'm sure your right, but since I'm no programmer, I'm fumbling around in the dark for a solution that will provide a webpage that appears to do "nothing" when links are clicked, ie no browser...
Basically I'm trying to build a web remote for my S1 Dtivo without having to use TiVoWeb to send each command.
So I have tried to create a PHP webpage (WinXPProSP2, IIS5, PHP5) that opens a telnet...
Wow, so what's new?
No telling how far off this is, but at least they're talking about it

EtiVoWeb is created automatically, however, IIRC, the "virtual" directory (//host/videofilesvirtualdirectory) is NOT created automatically.
oops! n/m....

<OT>Damn-dest thing. I could never get my OEM WME 2K5 to install, kept getting Windows Stop Errors booting from WME2K5 CD. (something to do with SATA Raid drive and cd-rom incompatibility) yada,...
Thanks, I deleted all of the bad EtivoInfo.xml files, EtiVo rebuilt them and all is running smoothly. I really thought I tried that. :o
I also have large enough single EtiVo drive, but I would assume, for those that store EtiVo files on multiple drives, that having an identical structure on both systems would be the preferred method....
Shut down EtiVo service, renamed directory ".show", restarted, still "bad"
Small snippet of etivo.log
<thinking outloud> I've recently had several BSOD (Hardware Stop 0x????????) Errors,...
What exactly is a problematic show. I noticed a few pesky files that wouldn't behave (deleted & re-encoded them) when I first installed the latest version (I've only been running it a few days), but...
That really does look nice.
