I forgot about p2.tcl I set the mempool to that size because newer installs of tivowebplus suggest it, I think. I do have plenty of swap on the drive. I will reduce it tonight first...

I have a old life time S1SA tivo I Put a 750 GB drive in and a cachecard with 512mb and have been using it as the kids video sever. It has a 350 or so shows on it all inserted via mfs_ftp...

1) It works well.
2) I have no idea though ffmpeg plays ty's and tmf's fine.

run it through tmpgenc to 720i ie dvd format. works fairly well. then codec copy.

Picture Quality for dtivo's and hd tivo's recording hd programs will be exactly as they were broadcast. sd ota tivo's it depends on the setting ( good, best...) but in general they are "pretty good"

run your file through tmpgenc or video redo and then use ffmpeg in codec copy copy mode.

if you haven't already try clearing and deleting the guide data. It's worked quite well here several times.
