Last i checked, tivo used the series to create folders. as such, you can't just arbitrarily change folders or create them. this could have changed, but i kinda doubt it.
.snow files are encrypted. thus, the box will have to use the PKI stuff to decrypt it. Since your s2 will not have the proper keys that your bro's s1 has, the .snow.bnd files will not decrypt properly
eh, you got me...

thats the correct link
I edited the above post to include phoenix, which is the hdtivo. Note that you have a gen04 and an ibis which point to the same unit. the gen04 shows up in things like driver names and boot logs,...
ibis is used on 540 and 590 units (standalone s2.5 tivos)
Jyounetsu is used on 264 units, which i believe are toshiba sd-400 units (dvd players)
pioneer dvdr units are takara (ie: s2.0 dvdr units). elmo is s2.5 dvdr units

From the looks of it, it has to do with the R4000...
here is the beginnings of a BRF parser. i dont remember if this is the newest version or not, and its certainly not the cleanest or most well tested code. however, it is a decent start. dont complain...
whats your point? no offense, but its a pretty cut and dry situation - you always have to pay for the right tools for the job. why do you think people are charging $50 plus shipping to do this...
many have. the two options people use most often are
1) chipquik and some sort of heat gun
2) hot air rework station
I use option 2, and its super easy if you have a tip designed for plcc chips
I really dont get threads like this...they really are pointless. Are software exploits great? yeah, its nice that we dont have to risk hardware so much. however, the bottom line is that tivo hacking...
lol...unless it has been updated significantly recently, the tivo hack faq is probably the most out of date site related to tivos out there. in fact, no entries have been modified in more than 1000...

uh, you might want to consider removing that from the disk. remember, the prom is software, and its copyrighted.
i appreciate your prompt response and courtesy in your response...its refreshing
what is included on this "utility/documentation cd"? please be sure to honor the wishes of any developer whose utility is included on this disk.
While the issues you mention do provide unique capabilities in some aspects to the tivo, rc3105 and others have noted that hooking up a dvd drive to standard tivos is entirely possible. it wont...
um, no. there is nothing out there at the consumer level that can record hd off of component video inputs in real time. the ota that is recorded is unencrypted digital over the air transmissions, no...
the hdtivo will take OTA input, so if you have that then its all good. tivo has also demonstrated a dual cable card tivo at CES in the past, but that wont be available for a while. so, i guess in...
no worries. i appreciate that you actually tried something...thats better than most. i was just offering some suggestions if you were really interested in doing more. i remember there was a quad...
worked fine for me. i use firefox as well, downloaded the file just fine.
ok, so the way it should work is
dish -> multiswitch->receivers -> modulator-> combiner -> single cable with all channels -> distrobution amp
now, this is making a couple of assumptions. if you...
your setup is actually fairly standard. as you noted, you are essentially creating a personal cable headend. if you can hook one cable into the output of your "mix" board, which is probably just a...
youre screwed - delete them.
it would be an interesting court case on judge judy or somehting: "my ex-girlfriend won't give me back my favorite shirt or my MAK, and i want them back!"
there you go. so either you need to start digging into the mfs stuff to see if its possible and such, or just go with two drives and call it good.
