Hi,
I've done a lot of research trying to figure out how to do this in linux, but haven't had any luck so far. I've previously done all my hacking in Mac OS X with a IDE to USB converter on my...
thanks for the tips.
I tried dd'ing the 40 gb working drive but am a little confused with the result. I had a 400gb external hard drive connected to my computer and tried to back it up to that,...
I have posted a more detailed question in the broken tivo forum, but figured this would be a good place to get a few smaller answers (especially since no one is responding to my other thread). You...
Did that already, sorry.
Ok, I decided just to try reimaging the drive. I have my old 40gb drive which works fine in the tivo. I imaged it and attempted to restore it to the bigger drive but it does not seem to work. ...
I tried to chmod the file, but it still would not boot. Any other thoughts? I can't seem to flip the boot partition either.
Yes I did chmod on the tivoapp, still no luck. I have tried flipping the boot partition with bootpage -f but it won't flip it for some reason. Any tips? I have my original hard drive, I may just...
Is there anything special you need to do to restore the original tivoapp file? I just renamed tivoapp.original to tivoapp and cannot seem to get my tivo to boot. Note, I also posted in the broken...
Hi, I'd really appreciate any help as I tried patching my tivoapp today and now my tivo won't get passed Welcome...powering up. My tivo is a 240040 running 7.3.1 that had previously been hacked...
I don't have a 2.5 unit, so I'm not too familar with the PROM hacking problem. But for my own curiousity, does this hack release mean you don't have to solder anything and everything can be hacked...
Not sure if you want to use linux for any specific reason, but I do my hacking on my intel mac in the terminal. You can use Ext2 for mac to let your mac see the tivo drive, and then all the tools...
Thanks, that boots great on my intel mac. We'll see how it works on the tivo next time I feel like cracking it open. :)
Cause I'm doing this on a laptop. :)
Thanks for the input.
Hi, I've been hacking for awhile now with a mac and terminal/unix. I just got a new intel mac and wanted to run linux on it (via parallels workstation) to do my tivo hacking. I would stick to the...
Thanks for all the help--I forgot to make it executable...I'm an *****. :) Thanks!
I am currently hacking a 240 S2 unit running 7.2.2b and have run into some trouble. I don't use it that often to stream so I usually let it unhack when the tivo updates software and just rehack it...
Tivotool lets you save programs from your tivo as well, as long as vserver is running on the tivo. It lets you choose the video format too: .ty, .mpg, divx, etc.
Well,
I guess it's ok that it wiped everything. I kind of wanted a chance to do everything from the ground up again anways...it's fun. :P
This time around I'll be more careful of course.

Last year, I fully hacked my series 2 tivo and was using it to stream, extract, etc. However, I hadn't used it in that regard in awhile and when I went to try and extract something today, I couldn't...
I have the exact same problem. Using a S2 Tivo. vlc 0.8.1 still works.
Edit: Updated module works--thanks! I still have trouble with live streams though (did with the old version too). They...
I'm also getting the errors reported above. When I run tyindex, it starts to index, but then I get the following error message:
demux:index_edit.c:302: seq_present_in_chunk: chunk 9872 record:...
Thanks PSXboy! That was the problem, new recordings work! thanks :)
Is r37 still the newest mac version of the demux? I'm having trouble (as discussed in an earlier post) with demux r37. I get errors saying:
