    Script to automatically turn scramble on/off

    I am not a great programmer, but I was wondering the following:

    Until we figure out how to unscramble the scrambled programs
    already stored on our drives, could a script be written that patches the Kernel whenever an encryptyed TV stream is played, and unpatches it to a nonscrambled Kernal upon concluding play.

    This was, we can record future stuff unscrambled, and our old stuff would still be playable until unscrambling is cracked.

    AFAIK you need to reboot between kernel changes. I know that would piss me off if I went to watch a show and the machine rebooted on me..
