    Bash & Minicom

Are there any special settings to get Minicom working with the TiVo? I ve connected using Windows' based TereTerm, but am going to try my luck with Minicom on Linux. Even the simplest suggestions are appreciated because I am no Linux expert.

    Thanks,

    Drew

as someone so simply put it to me when I asked the question...

    RTFM

Seriously all you have to do is go into options for minicom. Take out all of the modem init strings. Set the modem to what ever serial port you have the cable plugged into. (in my case it was /dev/ttyS3 (notice the caps)) and then save the settings as default. You then want to exit out of minicom and go back in. If your tivo is up hit enter and you should see the bash prompt. If not then you did something wrong Hope this helps.

On second thought you may not want to save the settings as default if you plan on using minicom for any thing else. You may want to save it as something else then invoke minicom using minicom <config file name>. Also if you get intermitent results using minicom it may be because you have not properly configed the serial port using setserial.
