    IP question

    This question is so retarded, I had to put it in the newbie forum..

    I'm trying to extract some videos over the serial port. The problem is, how do I determine what my DSR6k's IP is? Thanks.

    Connect to the Tivo using bash (either over serial line or Telnet). type: ifconfig

    The IP address for your interface will be displayed (along with a lot of other info).

    Unless you've setup PPP over the serial port, there is no IP address for it. Besides, you will see your kids graduate college before it transfers a whole movie over serial!

    If you have a TurboNet card, the IP address is set on the command line (ifconfig eth0 xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx)
