35 mfs_ftp was working now crashes

    Hello,
I had the mfs_ftp.tcl working with the jamie and jbuehl patches and the updated s2bins with the mfs_uberexport and mfs_import also the new tcoffset.tcl. It is version 1.2.9P of mfs_ftp.tcl

anyway I had it working fine and pulled a recording fine no problems. So I tried to upload a program and it didn't take it. The next day I shut it down and rebooted and tried to run mfs_ftp.tcl and I just get an error. There is only one recording on the tivo. I tried the p2.tcl script and still no go...this is what i'm getting from the serial output on TTERM:

    bash-2.02# ./mfs_ftp.tcl
    Tmk Assertion Failure:
    FsAllocateFunction, line 159 ()
Tmk Fatal Error: Thread tivosh <342> strayed!
Paste the following into a shell to get a backtrace...

    bt -t /tvbin/tivoapp <<END_OF_BT

    0x00403090 0x2acc13fc
    END_OF_BT

Tmk Fatal Error: Thread tivosh <342>: assertion failure
    flushing ide devices: hda
    Restarting system.

I also tried to reinstall mfs_ftp from scratch and still same error....please help if anyone knows the answer.

    Thanks.

I am trying to install mfs_ftp to my zippered DTivo, following the instructions at http://www.dvrpedia.com/MFS_FTP to apply various patches. A problem that I've encountered is that it has you delete the mfs_stdinsert(from the mfs_ftp file) and tells you to rename mfs_import (from mfs-utils), yet there is no mfs_import in either.
So, what actually needs to be done?

You're definitely missing something if you don't have mfs_import. Get the Mips binaries from here. Even the source code for mfs_import is in there. Stop mentioning the zipper here. It's author(s) asked several times that it not be mentioned on this site.

Thanks. I thought that was where I downloaded the copy that I was using (the 20050604 version), but it's definately in the one that I just downloaded.

    Hi

I am getting the errors as others, with a missing variable in an FSID reference.

They say, oh, it is a corrupted episode of xxx, I deleted it, it works fine.

How did they map the FSID to the program in MFS that was causing the problem.

Is there a TCL tidbit to do that?

I tried mfsassert, gsod, and a rebuild, same error.

I need to map a show FSID to the program name, etc so I can delete it and allow mfs_ftp to run again

    Thanks

You could use the script here to dump all recordings and their FSIDs or you could use the NowShowing binary to get the name of the program by grepping the FSID :

    Code:
    DVD_TiVo#[/] $ NowShowing | grep 72631
    <Title>:<Metalocalypse><Day>:<Sun><Date>:<12/16><Year>:<12/16/07><Station>:<TOON><EpisodeTitle>:<Cleanso (0 of 1)><FSID>:<72631/13><TyStream>:</95949/95951><TotalSize>:<528>

Just as an FYI, 'NowShowing' is part of Jamie's unified mfs_* tools found here - as I'm sure you know, you want the ppc one for Series 1.

Either I am having a senior moment or am a bigger newbie than I thought.

My Series 1 does not have a tar binary so I used cpio to extact mfs_ftp.tar and it says:

    Sony-TiVo# cpio -i -H tar -d -F mfs_ftp.tar
    cpio: premature end of file

I am in the /var directory and the tar file is there. I must be missing something very simple.

I am removing most of this post. After FINDING the mfs_ftp article at dvrpedia and making sure I had all of the patches, and making sure that I had ONLY the right binaries, I have xferred my 1st .ty file. WOOHOO! Thanks to all who led the way. Gary

The command looks right to me. Is the current directory in your path? It sort of looks like cpio did not find the file. Does "cpio -i -H tar -d -F ./mfs_ftp.tar" make any difference?

Does the tar file look right on the PC side if you use Winzip to open it? I am pretty sure WinZip will handle tar files. I assume you can confirm you transfered the file in binary mode to the Sony.

So what's the deal with folder groups and inserting programs into folders? I've got a ton of program recorded from an S2 DirecTivo. I've successfully moved a couple of them over but they're not being grouped into folders as before. I've read the folders.tcl threads and that's, presumably, one way to attack the problem. But I suppose the real question is why isn't the grouping happening automatically? What's with the seriescreate value in the settings.tcl file?

Is that 'safe' to use for moving unecrypted series recordings from a hacked DVR39 DirecTivo (running 6.2-01-2-151) to a likewise hacked series 2 standalone TCD24000A (running 7.2.0-oth-01-2-140). If not, what are the circumstances where the seriescreate flag is known to work (or REALLY known to screw up)?

I just want to ease the pain of moving from DirecTV to FIOS with the least number of lost recordings. It's already a bit of an adventure catching up with the latest in tivo hacks!

    35 transfer problems with mfs_ftp

    Hi,

I'm running a SD-DVR40 (HDVR2?) with "hacked" 6.2 tivo software and 320GB hard drive. I have about ~200 shows, about 150 hrs worth.

I have previously transferred and extracted w/o any issues. however, recently I'm having this problem where I get disconnected when I try to open the tmf or ty+ directory. Its the same result regardless of the client i use.

Previous when I ran into this problem, I figured out that if start my msf_ftp.tcl and leave it overnight, my problems went away. That is not working now

I have the mfs_ftp installed int he /var/hack directory.

Also how do I read the mfs-ftp log?

    Help!

I found a tar binary and put it the bin directory. It worked fine, I have mfs_ftp up and running. Just wish there was an easy way to move all my (encrypted) recordings over to my DTivo Samsung.

Never Mind, I see the answer on Page 92

I'm getting the following error when I try to upload a file to my tivo using smartFTP.

I am having such a hard time getting mfs_ftp to work on my tivo. I had the problem that I had listed in my last post, I added the doit file and ran that. I still had problems. I noticed that the instructions that I followed said to put it in var/hack/mfs_ftp, and I saw someone say to put it in var/mfs_ftp, so I reinstalled it. Now I'm getting different error messages.
