making /var/hack read only

cd /var/hack
chattr +i

Isn't that all I need to do?

Well like I said in another thread, if you don't prevent the Tivo from doing a purge when the logs get to big that won't help. But no, the syntax is

chattr +i /var/hack

good call... thanks for helping on the syntax... i will do both... i have read about purge the log file and i am going to figure that out next...

hey i have a question... i am copying over /pgrd252.tcl to my hack directory... i am sending it via zmodem... do i need to chmod +x to this file to make it executable, or will it already be?

Yes, you need to chmod it.
