Try: "mount /dev/hdb /mnt/d" (make sure /mnt/d directory exists, either create it, or pick an empty directory that does exist in the /mnt directory)
Then "cd /mnt/d" and have a look around.

how do i look at the files on hdb. i can see the files on the boot drive.
