Making DivX from mpeg's extracted with tystudio

I'm trying to make some DivX files for use in my Archos jukebox multimedia. Basically they're 352x240 with MP3 audio. When I use virtualdub (modified for MPEG2) to encode from the MPEG file, it just encodes halfway then stops. It doesn't give an error, it's just stuck encoding and the framerate drops to 0 fps.

I'm now trying FlaskMPEG and I left one video encoding before I left for work this morning.

Anyone have any idea why Virtualdub stops halfway?

    UPDATE: FlaskMPEG failed miserably.

I ended up decompressing the video with DVD2AVI, decoding the MP2 or AC3 audio with winamp and then re-encoding the whole kaboodle with Virtualdub.

That's nothing, sometimes my system randomly reboots while encoding to DivX w/ VirtualDub mod.

Well this wasn't really a reboot. It was just "stuck". I have a feeling it had a problem with the mpeg files from tivo.
