    Is it a "popping sound"? Or a "clicking sound"?

    If it is a clicking sound, that indicates there is no load on the supply. I would think that you need to clean the flat flex connector that connects the main board to the supply. Try swapping it end for end.

    Clean the tips with an eraser.
