    NutKase,

Thanks for the pointer, that helped. But the mystery deepens. I reset the netfilter files to their original names and edited rc.sysinit. Ping still works, telenet and ftp both work now, but I can't connect via browser. It seems this would be a lot easier if I were a little smarter....

I'm going to follow your advice and upgrade to TiVoWeb Plus before pursuing this problem. Of course, this works perfectly on 3.1b.

    Thanks for the help.

I had "browse to it" problems with 4.0. Successful browse now with TivoWebPlus.

Add to the rc.sysinit.author if you want it to run all the time. I still prefer to launch it only when needed from telnet.

    Don't recall telnet issue.

    Iago,

I'm pretty sure there's a website out there with a mislabeled version of
TiVoScripts. The file I downloaded said ver 1.01, however it has the bug where it ENABLES netfilters rather than disables them, thus no ftp and telnet.

Thanks for the encouraging word on TiVoWeb Plus. I've installed it, and it's working fine.

Netfilters is always active on 4.x. The first script version failed to properly 'disable' them.

The 'TimeZoneOld' issue has been with 4.x for a while. Anyone who wants to run the original version of Tivoweb can just search for TimeZoneOld...

The newer tivowebplus automatically detects your version and fixes it.

    Hi All:

First of all, huge thanks to everyone involved with doing the work in the community. The services you all give away for free are invaluable.

Anyways, I put 4.0 on my HDVR2 using Sleeper's ISO for the hack part of it, and adjusted all the things that need adjusting for 4.0. Things are all working great (except the parental controls ), however, I noticed something really strange over the past 2 days that it's been running. Almost all of my season passes were setup as "First Run Only" recordings. This is how most of my season passes always have been, and my other HDVR2 (still at 3.x software) is the same way. However, this thing with 4.0 is recording *all* showings regardless of whether its a repeat or not. A good example is "The Simpsons". It airs a TON of episodes throughout the week, but only one new one. This problem is causing other season passes to get overruled (simpsons come higher in the priority list). This behavior is not unique to this particular season pass. I've gone through and wiped out/re-created my season passes twice now, and it still records all showings rather than first-runs only. Anyone else had this problem? I'm guessing not, since I didn't find anything pertinent through searching.

Anyways, strange little oddity, nothing drastic, but certainly an annoyance.

    Thanks for any insight!

I haven't experienced the season pass problem though, interesting, will have to play with it.

Guide and Banner screens branded with the TV guide logo on 4.0.1

If you don't care to see that red TV guide logo that can be removed.

I used AlphaWolf's script with the ToMfs command to replace the .png files GothamLogoGuide.2.png & GothamLogoBanner.2.png. This is based on the thread http://www.dealdatabase.com/forum/sh...9&page=3&pp=15

What I did was take a clear image out of the data base and used that to replace those two Gotham files. What you end up with is an unbranded guide and banner.

Send the two files over to your tivo in binary mode, make them executable and reboot after the script finishes for the changes to take place.

    Neet things to try

Since the DTIVO software is obviously included in the SA image, has anyone plugged in a DVD-RW drive to see if the Tivo-DVD-recorder functions are included too? Or try the image from the pioneer tivo/dvd thing on a dtivo?

    missing something simple

I'm sure I'm missing something simple, but I did a backup of my sa series 2 and restored it to my dtivo series 2. The system boots ok there. I then ran sleeper tivo_scripts 1.02 on them to do a monte and I no longer boot. Is that the wrong way to monte this thing? Whats everyone else using?

You can use TivoScripts to automate installing monte. But if you have used the ISO previously you would have a variables file on your FAT32 drive. I've normally seen this throw off the killinitrd step on the ISO. Restore your 4.0 again, make sure you delete that variables file in /mnt/c/tivo then run the ISO from the surgery stage.
