Need help in Cobelli's guide please
Hi.. this may be a dumb question.. but I'm following Cobelli's guide, and I'm at the point where I need to do the Kernel replacement. I've burned the kernel.img file, as well as some other files to a CDR - but after I mount the CDrom, and do an ls - there is nothing on the CDR. I can read the files with my XP box.. is there something special I need to do to burn files (with Nero) so that Linux can read them?
Sorry about the question.. I'm a complete linux noob - and I've already searched to try to answer my question to no avail.
Please help! (picture me sitting here with my tivo, and PC cracked open.. hoping for a reply )
It sounds like you are not getting the cdrom mounted properly.
A directory called /cdrom exists and will be empty until a device is mounted on it.
You may want to try my scripts ISO. It will show you the commands that you need to type.
I'm following cobelli's guide step by step.. when I do mount /dev/hdb /cdrom \
" mount : block device /dev/hdb is write protected, mounting read-only"
"/dev/hdb: Read-only file system"
"mount: you must specify the filesystem type"
does that sound right?
I'll do a seach for your scripts ISO as well.
(very anxious to get this puppy at least somewhat finished tonight)
just did a net search.. found my prob.
The guide says mount /dev/hdb /cdrom, so I did mount -t iso9660 -r /dev/hdb /cdrom instead, and I'm good to go!
