I've searched the world over (and Google) and come up with nothing, so it's my official turn to beg. Does anyone have a TCD540140 image they could share with me? My sister is counting on me to resurrect her Tivo.

    TIA!

Have you tried this link yet to see if it's still good?

    Tcd652160

Does anyone have an image I can use on a TCD652160? A friend of mine gave me a TIVO with a bad hard drive and I'm hoping I can get it up and running again.

    As thread Says Begging for.

As we had not needed to mess with it until now( wife would have shot me if I did anyhow) I had not looked inside nor thought of backing up our Toshiba SD-H400 and it has now chosen to be stuck on the a few more minutes mode.
I am going to attempt to get to the drive with several of the tools I have at hand but I would love to have backup image as the fallback.
I have been looking here for a drive image b4 I go into the machine and all the links I have seen to be dead so if anyone can point me in the direction of a working backup image of a drive I would appreciate same.
(And she probably would have just smacked me but who knows
I am going to try instantcake as an alternate idea, but as this is primarily my wife's machine I would like to bring it back to stock if possible.
    Thank You for reading:
    Don

AlphaWolf's venerable 62small.mfs for all Series 2 DirecTV TiVos, except the R10 or HR10-250. (If you plan on hacking the drive, check out BTUx9's install62a.tcl for a Daylight Savings Time fix without slices.)

Windows users can check MD5 with this freeware. I recommend using Spike's MFSLive BootCD (not WinMFS, which uses a different format) to restore these.

Thanks to the anonymous person who sent me the standalone model images years ago.

BONUS: Here's a virgin 7.2.2 kernel for killhdinitrd (I did a general how-to in this post,) which will allow you to hack your standalone or DirecTiVo Series 2. Not 2.5 i.e. TCD540 or R10, those require a (physical) PROM modification.

    @ Drez,

Thank you for posting current links to this data along with accurate descriptions. I found it after multiple hours of searching for exactly this info.

Your post and this forum just saved my Series 2 TCD240080.

    Series 2 DT image

    Hello,

I was given a Series 2 DT unit with a bad HD in it.
    It is model number TCD649160.
Does anyone have access or knowledge to a backup image for this unit?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank You

Thanks Drez as I too was searching and following links that led no where until your post.
Now to get moving and see if I can restore the machine.
    Thank You again.

A TCD649080 image might work, I'm pretty sure it's the same machine except the hard drive is smaller--80GB.

I'd offer a copy of mine except I just discovered that it's defective, and since I can't get the 500 GB I replaced the original with to yield a working truncated backup (even though it still works in the TiVo just fine), I'm in the position of having to beg for one as well.

(so if you find one let me know, you can reach me via spam's favorite vehicle at coastalnet.com)

Here are some minimal 6.2a and 6.4a tivo images for any Series 2 DirecTiVo, except for the R10 or HR10-250.

I made them using the "mfs from scratch" method. They can be restored to any size hard drive and expanded again at a later date if desired.

It's normal for the image to reboot during first boot. When it comes back up, it'll go through "Preparing Software Update" (if you're hacking the drive before the first boot, don't set "upgradesoftware=false" until after this) before going straight to LiveTV (bypassing the dreaded "Final Setup Steps".)

I've pre-configured /State/GeneralConfig so the Tivo thinks that it already made the mandatory initial phone call.

Remember to run Guided Setup to set your dish type/LNBs and enable the second tuner. (Don't worry, it won't ask a phone call.)

mfstools images. I recommend restoring these with spike's MFSLive BootCD.

WinMFS versions of the images. Only WinMFS can restore these.
