Anybody have a source for a HDR112/212/312 image?

My 312 threw down and when I went to grab the original drive I stashed in a drawer for safe keeping to reimage it to a new drive - it won't spin up.

    TCD240080 7.2.2 Image needed

Ouch... Just trashed my drive. Any chance I can get the 7.2.2 image for the TCD240080?

    TIA!

Here is a link to a post earlier in the thread; it's on the emule P2P network, so you'll need the emule client.

That is a good stock sd-h400 image, but I don't think it is going to give justdoit what he wants: a kernel compatible with killhdinitrd that will work with 7.3.1. You can go back to the two posts here and perhaps find the 3.1.5 kernel, but those sources may not have the 7.2.2-oth-K1 kernel. The 3.1.5 kernel will work on a 264, but you won't be able to use dhcp without an additional kernel module.

Best bet for the 7.2.2-oth-K1 kernel (broken record mode) is still probably the $5 PTVUpgrade lba48 iso.

If DHCP is the only difference then I guess for now I don't plan to use DHCP so if I set the IP/subnet/gateway mannually then I should be fine with 3.1.5 right? I am trying to use crossover cable to connect.

Jamie, I don't seem to understand 3.1.5 or 7.2.2-oth-k1. Can you make me understand what is the difference.

    Right.

These are tivo software versions. 3.1.5 was for the HDTivo; 7.2.2-oth-K1 was for Series2 tivos. Both came with linux 2.4.20 kernels that have a killhdinitrd exploit. Both kernels are compatible with tivo software 7.3.1, with the exception of the dhcp issue I mentioned.

    Thanks Jamie.

Is this what I will have to do?
    1) Download the image (3.5.1 or the 7.2.2 xxxx)
    2) Use killhdinitrd to the downloaded image
    4) Use dd to transfer it to my active tivo partition (i.e. 3 or 6)

Will I then be able modify rc.sysinit to put telnet/ftp/TivoWebPlus etc.

    It's 3.1.5, not 3.5.1.

The kernel image (".px" file) may be compressed and may have already have had killhdinitrd run on it. Check whatever documentation came with the kernel. There's usually a README or something.

I got the 3.1.5 from one of the previous posts. Will I need to use killinitrd as well?

How to setup the IP address manually?

You want killhdinitrd not killinitrd - they are two different things. You manually set the IP address in the Tivo GUI under Network settings.

Is there any firewall in TIVO that I have to take care of?

How to disable auto updates so as not to get all my hacks wiped off and what do I need to know if I choose to disable it?

    Please Help, Sony SVR3000 crashed

I have a Sony SVR3000 that is frozen on the "powering up screen". I have been meaning to upgrade to a larger hard drive and figured now was the best time to do it. However, I don't know where to begin.

Could someone please point me in the right direction?
What image can I use (i.e. do I have to use a specific image for the SVR3000 or would any Standalone Series 2 image work)?
What should I search for to locate a working image torrent?

What are the main advantages of using a hacked image instead of a clean stock image?

I assume replacing my tivo HD with a large drive with a new image will not affect my lifetime service subscription, right?

Any advice or links to helpful forum discussion you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks
