I have two RCA DVR40 Series 2 DirecTivos. When I run mfsbackup I get errors. I have the drives hooked up as follows.
PriMaster Fat32 Drive
PriSlave Cd-Rom drive
SecMaster Maxtor 40 gig Tivo Drive
I have tried to unlock the drive using "DiskUtil", it reports the drive is not locked.
When I boot off the MFSTools cd, I run the following commands:
mount /dev/hda1 /mnt/c
mfsbackup -f 9999 -6so /mnt/c/tivo.bak /dev/hdc
I get the following error:
Primary volume header corrupt, trying backup.
Secondary volume header corrupt, giving up.
mfs_load_volume_header: Bad Checksum.
mfsbackup: Backup failed to startup. Make sure you specified the right
device, and that the drives are not locked.
I have tried this on different computers, with both Tivo Drives and I get the same error. Please help, I am out of guesses.
