    Nfs Help!

    Ok my /etc/exports file is:
    /usr/local/tivo(rw)

    my /etc/host.allow file is:
    portmap: 192.168.0.0/255.255.255.0

    my /etc/host.deny file is:
    portmap: ALL

    When I do:
    /etc/rc.d/init.d/nfs restart

    I get:
exportfs: No options for /usr/local/tivo(rw) : suggest () to avoid warning

    On the tivo I did:
    insmod -f nfs-2.0.1.o

    also

    mount 192.168.1.2:/usr/local/tivo /var/hack/mnt

    but I get this error:
mount: RPC: Port mapper failure - RPC: Unable to receive

    Additional information:
    linux box ip: 192.168.1.2
    tivo ip: 192.168.1.53

Ok, so what is the problem? Why can't I mount the drive? I'm new to linux so I probably made some stupid mistake. I hope I've included enough information.

    Thanks in advance!

your missing some lines in your exports file.. here's mine:
    / 192.168.1.7(rw)

the / is the shared mounting point, the 192.168.1.7 is the ip for my tivo

    my /etc/host.allow file is:
    portmap: 192.168.0.0/255.255.255.0

    my /etc/host.deny file is:
    portmap: ALL
your host.* files have the wrong ip if your network is 192.168.1.X

    do: 192.168.1.0/255.255.255.0
also, you should add more than just portmap to the hosts files.. i have:

    hosts.allow:
    portmap: 192.168.1.7
    lockd: 192.168.1.7
    rquotad: 192.168.1.7
    mountd: 192.168.1.7
    statd: 192.168.1.7

    hosts deny:
    portmap:ALL
    lockd:ALL
    moutd:ALL
    rquotad:ALL
    statd:ALL

    On the tivo I did:
    insmod -f nfs-2.0.1.o

    also

    mount 192.168.1.2:/usr/local/tivo /var/hack/mnt

    but I get this error:
mount: RPC: Port mapper failure - RPC: Unable to receive
on the tivo side do this:

    you're missing a mount -t nfs.. ie: mount -t nfs 192.168.1.2:/usr/local/tivo /var/hack/mnt
