tyStudio/tyc crash on ty files

Hi All,

New to extraction and have set up mfs_ftp and tserver_mfs7 to get
ty files from my dtivo. Can pull the ty files off fine but tystudio and
tyc both crash seconds after selecting the file. I'm starting to think
there is something wrong with the extracted ty files. I've disabled
scrambling with both the tivoapp mod and now the kmem hack.

Can you think of anything I can do to narrow down where the problem
is? Thanks much.

Matt, you can't disable encryption using both methods at once. Use this script to check the encryption status of your Tivo. If it says you are encrypted then remove KMEM, restore your tivoapp to its original form (you made a backup I hope) and try reapplying the patch.

You can, just the kernel method makes things a little messier. If both are applied then encryption is definitely effectively turned off.

Try pulling and processing using only TyTool. See if you can get it to work with that before moving to TyStudio. TyTool is still currently in developement with the author providing fixes and support, while TyStudio has lost the originaly author and is in a group development state. When you ask for more help, include information about software versions and hardware model numbers. Also, more information about the method of your hack.
