Xupgrade can be used to upgrade Xtreme 2.5 to 2.5.2 or to 3.1. It also includes xplusz. I'm not familiar with upgrd252sh, but the name suggests it will allow upgrading to 2.5.2Originally Posted by tester28

I believe upgrd252.sh is the install script that you execute to install xupgrade. Below is C&P from the readme...
"to install v2.5.2:
3 basic installation methods (use only one):
A. xupgrade.iso
this is one method used for installing while DTiVo A drive is in PC:
1. backup your DTiVo hard drives
2. burn bootable CD from xupgrade.iso
3. boot from CD and enter:
upgrd252.sh
to setup installation without flashing the prom or
upgrd252.sh -p
to setup installation with flashing the prom (you only need to flash the
prom if you did not flash it with current install, not necessary for v25xtreme)
4. put A drive back into DTiVo, install will be automatic taking about
6-7 minutes.
B. files on primary/master HD (windows Cin PC:
this is another method used for installing while DTiVo A drive is in PC:
1. backup your DTiVo hard drives
2. use WinImage to extract 2 files,
v252.tar and upgrd252.sh in the upgrd252 directory.
3. create upgrd252 directory in root directory of C: and copy files v252.tar
and upgrd252.sh into it.
4. boot from tivo compatible linux CD and enter:
mkdir /dos
mount /dev/hda1 /dos
/dos/upgrd252/upgrd252.sh
to setup installation without flashing the prom
or
/dos/upgrd252/upgrd252.sh -p
to setup installation with flashing the prom (you only need to flash the
prom if you did not flash it with current install, not necessary for v25xtreme)
5. put A drive back into DTiVo, install will be automatic taking about
6-7 minutes.
C. from bash on the DTiVo:
1. backup your DTiVo hard drives
2. use WinImage to extract 2 files,
v252.tar and upgrd252.tcl in the upgrd252 directory.
3. transfer files v252.tar and upgrd252.tcl to /var/hack.
(Note: v252.tar is about 14MB and takes about 30 mins to rz send at 115200)
4. enter:
cd /var/hack
./upgrd252.tcl
5. this will run for several minutes and reboot to v2.5.2"
Xupgrade is the full upgrade iso by Superzap that allows you to upgrade from 2.5Xtreme to either 2.5.2 or 3.1. The upgrd252.sh file is the program contained within the xupgrade.iso that allows you to upgrade to version 2.5.2.
