nope, not going to extend it another week. there's about $500 unverified (hardware, personal checks, etc) so if we make $4,500 today I'll throw the switch

*I might put in a few hundred myself if we get within spitting distance, wish I could talk about some of the other toys these guys have written

Push come to shove I can cough up another $100 (and I don't even have a RID unit - but I'd be willing to switch ). PM me if you need it.

lets see if I can 'splain this w/o munging it too badly

the way service is authorized changed from 4.x to 5.x. under 5.x you either have to have valid spigot keys (which tivo won't provide for the wrong sw and we don't know how to make) or you have to disable those check entirely

since "disabling an encryption mechanism" is illegal under the DMCA and the board owner REALLY doesn't want to go to jail we can't discuss or post those patches here

it might be possible to get 5.x working in another fashion & avoid legal issues (never say never) but that will most definatly take some work

I see TiVo Lite as a good business decision TiVo made for the DVD combo units, but it does suck for this community. It has now made what would be a benign hack usefull for theft of service.

If this bounty doesn't make it, will the money be returned through Paypals refund process to avoid fees? I guess that also puts a limit on how long this could be extended as the refund becomes impossible after 30 days.

I wish my new TiVo was as easy as my S1 SA. I had a bash prompt on it as soon as I figured out how to mount the root filesystem on my PC.
    ---

I was lamenting on that last paragraph about how TiVo increased security. I have my UMA6 hacked. Tivoweb plus, mfs_ftp (thanks Riley, great program), soft padding. The event bug gets me every now and then, but I just need to read up on that. Tivoweb did that to my S1 as well.

    ---

It occured to me I should get my post on topic, I contribued $40

I wish I could do more, but not at this time.

    verified - $20

Come on people, lets make this happen!

All we need is 35 people to donate $20 each to make this happen tonight!

I'll start the lead... and turn myself into a "repeat offender".

There's 88 donations so far, so if we can get almost half of us to throw another $20 in we'll get to see the big secret that makes this work! I'm dying to see it. Aren't you?

I've got an 810 and the basic svc SUCKS if you're used to season passes. I also have dtivo though so the only thing the 810 does is convert old videotapes and playback dtv sd recordings to the hdtv in 480p (very cool)

yep, that's why I waited till it looked like maybe there was enough interest in the other thread

Had to wait until I got my first paycheck from my new job, but I'm finally in for $25. Don't have an RID, but would love to have the option down the line if needed.
