line across top when viewing .ty in media player

just wondering if anyone else has this. whether im viewing streaming .ty or download the .ty and view it in media player, theres a moving line across the top of the viewing area (one pixel wide, a couple of rows down from the top, even when the picture is letterbox it's still at that same spot). just wondering what's going on with that. if i upload the file back to the tivo, or use tytools to create a dvd, those are fine. perhaps its just a media player thing? thanks.

I noticed the same thing, but I don't know the technical reason for it. All I know is that on a regular television the image you see is actually a "cropped" version of the actual image, so you won't notice it if viewing on a regular television. With media player you see the entire image.

It's called overscan. Most TVs have about 3-5% overscan, meaning you can't see the that much of the picture being broadcasted all around the edges. When you stream it off the TiVo or watch an extracted stream, you're seeing the whole picture, overscan and all.

FYI, using tytool to turn into a VOB file is the same way.

It's still the overscan. It goes away when played on a TV...
At least it does on mine.
