ftp problems when using get under mfs-ftp

When I try to get a Stream off of my Tivo it gives me the error "Connection Closed by Remote Host."

I read around and people said to disable the passive feature of mfs-ftp, but I can't figure that out either.

My Tivo is hacked Dsr-704 using the sleeper iso under the Monte option.

Also on my computer I am using Windows Xp SP2.

I tried using other ftp protocols and the just give me the name of the file at 0Kb.

Anyone out there with a fix for this would be much apprecited.

Try actually disabling the passive feature of the client ftp software, not the server software. If you are using WS_FTP LE for example, the setting for passive transfers is under "session Properties -> Advanced". Not 100% sure if this will fix your problem, but try this first.

I tried disabling the passive mode on my client software, but to no avail.

Also I tried other things and it turns out that my tivo drives are set to read only access. How do I set it to read/write/modify?

has this got anything to do with
    1. S2_unscramble utility
    2. the unscramble kernel 4.0 ( by jamie )
i am having the same problem irrespective of the mode of transfer.

You need to remount the filesystem in read/write mode. A quick search on "'read-only' filesystem" will tell you how to do this.

Scrambling does not yet enter the picture, and mfs_ftp would transfer recordings even if they are scrambled.

Ensure that you have the proper version of mfs_ftp (the one made for your series of tivo), and try wiping out your current installation and installing the latest. If you use a PC, be sure to only extract the mfs_ftp.tar file on the tivo itself. Do not extract it to your pc then FTP the results over, because you will lose a few of the symlinks in the extraction on windows. Extract it directly on the tivo.

Xsec, stop cross posting. You're already getting helped in this issue by two experts. Don't duplicate efforts...
