I have an HDVR2 that I would like to hack. I am still doing some research here.
I am thinking of buying another unit from ebay to practice with.

Question:
1. Will I be able to do much w/o hooking up my 2nd unit to DirecTv?
2. Assuming I can go this route, and get things working on the test unit, can I just connect THAT unit to DirecTv or will they balk at a new unit?
2. Does this even make sense?
